5 Habits Must Be Avoided After Meals

What kind of habits do you have after eating? Do you know that the habit you were doing without realizing it could lead to a disease that you didn't have? There are 5 post-meal habits that must be avoided that ruin your health.

1. Brushing teeth

If you brush your teeth right after eating, the enamel layer coated on your teeth will come off. This enamel layer plays such an important role as an armor of the teeth. If the enamel layer disappears, your teeth will soon rot. Especially, it is more dangerous to brush your teeth after eating acidic foods or drinks such as orange juice, strawberries, blueberries, dry fruits, coffee, and wine. Therefore, it is recommended to gargle only with water after meals and brush your teeth after 1 hour.

2. Coffee and green tea

If you drink coffee and green tea right after you eat, you can't absorb iron from beans, green vegetables, and nuts. Tannins in coffee and green tea combine with iron to prevent absorption in the body. Studies show that when drinking green tea, iron absorption decreases by up to 60%, and when drinking coffee, it decreases by up to 50%. If you have anemia, you must avoid coffee and green tea after eating. If you need to drink them, drink at least 30 minutes later.

3. Lie-down

Lying down lowers the position of the esophagus, so food and stomach acid in the stomach are likely to flow back. If you even fall asleep, the food will stay in your stomach for a longer time, causing reflux esophagitis. The habit of sleeping right after meals also increases the incidence of diabetes, so it is a habit that must be corrected.

4. Sweet dessert

Usually, after finishing a meal, blood sugar, which had soared, falls and returns to a stable level. However, eating sweet desserts can cause high blood sugar levels to soar again and maintain high blood sugar levels, putting a great deal of pressure on your pancreas. If this habit is repeated, blood sugar suddenly drops due to the reaction, losing energy and quickly becoming hungry.

5. Excessive exercise

No matter how good you eat, exercising after eating can be a waste of time. Our bodies redistribute a certain amount of blood and use it. After eating, a lot of blood flows are sent to the stomach to digest and relatively less blood flows to the arms and legs. Excessive exercise that continues to move in this state can not only interfere with digestion but also cause stomach cramps as blood is distributed to the muscles. Even if you eat nutritious food, it is of no use if you can't absorb it through digestion. Even indigestible food acts as toxins in the body. After a meal, a light walk rather than excessive exercise can promote digestive fluid secretion and stomach linked exercise.
